There are four seasons in Japan, and we have a custom of Koromogae, changing cloth seasonally. Roughly between October and May, we wear kimono with lining called Awase. In June and September, we wear Hitoe (Kimono without lining). And in July and August, midsummer of Japan, Ro, Sha, and Ra, see-through thin fabric, or hemp cloth is worn.
It is expressed sense of the season of summer, and same as with patterns. Hydrangeas or irises are used in early summer. We are able to wear pattern of autumn flowers throughout summer, in which way we are ahead of coming season. Dragonfly, morning glory, pattern of water, sweet fish, carp, or fireworks are also used. It is essential and lovely to coordinate with coolness when you wear of kimono in summer,
It is a type of weaving fabric, in the way of it, there are Yokoro, characterized in horizontal stripes and Tatero, vertical lines are appeared in fabric. It looks cool as these fabrics are not woven tightly and this technique makes gaps between the lines.
