Shibori is one of a technique of dyeing. There are so many types of them in detail. It is also called Kukuri-some, dyed after binding several part of the material, so that the pattern would appear in white without dyeing. It has an exotic beauty of blotted and fainted color. It is classified roughly into these three categories: Nui-shibori, which is sewed to make them shrink, Makiage-shibori, which is bound up with strings, Itajime-sibori, pressed patterns by putting cloths between curved boards. Furthermore, there are more kinds of patterns such as Kanoko, Hitta, Miura, murakumo, Yanagi, etc. There are some famous places for producing these types of Kimono: Kyoto (silk), Nagoya Arimatsu Shibori (cotton), or Akita and Iwate (Shikonzomme, Akanezome).
